Serviced apartments are becoming a popular choice for travelers – especially for businessmen going on a trip overseas to conduct business. This type of accommodation is a great option if you don’t want to stay in hotels anymore.
Even though serviced apartments are a great alternative to hotels, the actual experience is still different from a hotel. Naturally, people who stay at a serviced apartment for the first time may have to adjust their expectations.
Some of the things you should remember if you are going to book a stay at a serviced apartment are:
- Turnover service is not done as regularly. Although the linens and towels are provided by the apartment, the turnover service is not done daily. The service will depend on the schedule set by the apartment management. To find out how often the turnover service is, you’ll have to coordinate with the management. You can ask for more frequent turnover service if you want but this may entail some additional cost.
- Many people who stay at a serviced apartment for the first time assume that some kind of room service is also part of the amenities provided by the apartment management. Room service is not a service provided for this type of accommodation but what it does offer is considered by budget travelers as something better – a kitchen. With a kitchen, you can prepare the food you want to eat and this can result in bigger savings for you.
- Serviced apartments offer you a huge amount of space for the price, especially if you compare it with the space that you’ll have in a hotel room. Some people may be surprised by the huge amount of space but that’s the beauty of having a serviced apartment. You won’t feel so boxed in, especially if your stay is going to be longer than a few days. You can also just rent the apartment and have more than one traveler stay, which makes it economical.
- Security may be something you’ll have to get used to because serviced apartments usually do not have a security guard or a doorman to guard the premises. If you’re paranoid about security then this is something you’ll have to consider.
