While creativity can be speculative, if you are an artist, writer, photographer, or some other form of artist, you may want to be using the internet to share your creativity and maybe even attract a customer or two. Creatives have been using the internet for a long time, so why not make sure that you too are getting the most out of it.
It’s not that difficult to market your creative endeavors online, even if they are ones that aren’t entirely for sale. You could be a performance artist simply looking to get fans to show up at your ballet show or your play. The internet can help you with that as well.
Use Social Media
Using social media to share your creative endeavors is a great way to show your friends and family, and even strangers, what you can do. It’s a way to announce that you’re more than just a secretary at an office, that you also do magnificent oil paintings at home or that your are a very skilled photographer looking for models.
Not only can you share your photos, videos of your performances, or even your artwork with people, but it also allows you to find new fans and maybe even new customers. You can also post events when you have a show or will be selling your art at a craft fair.
Blog About It
People love reading blogs and they love garnering new information online. That means it is extremely important you blog if you are a creative person. Blogging isn’t just for the writers out there, write blogs about last night’s performance or your latest painting.
Aside from making your posts well written and informative, you also should include photos to go with the posts. Photos of your latest art or your performance will give people something to visualize while they read. You may even inspire other creatives!
Reach Out To Other Bloggers/Writers
Don’t simply do your own writing, reach out to other writers and bloggers. You could find book reviewers to review your newest published work or maybe contact a local newspaper to review your next concert or performance at open mic night. There are many sites out there that have writers that are happy to talk about your experiences, successes, and creative endeavors.
Do The Footwork
It’s not all about marketing online, you should also reach out to your local people as well, especially as an artist. If you have a performance locally reaching out to only people online may not bring you a lot of people, but advertising locally could bring in a bunch of people.
You don’t just need to purchase ad space in the local paper, you can also advertise for free by creating flyers to post in various places. You should also have business cards on hand at all time.
