A large chunk of most sites that are being searched for today includes that of sites that can provide gossips and rumors about celebrities, famous personalities in the world and other acclaimed news. People would always want to be the first to know about them and this has been the usual tradition for such cases. Being the first always becomes a distinction and rightfully so as can be seen today in most parts of the world.

Such as opened new gates towards providing people with a reason to write. Providing latest news and possible insights will be among the top ramblings on the mind of any person who want to get the latest information about varying issues. While some would say gossip and rumors would be bad, let us face it; they have become points of interest by people over the world. News and views sent out in advance will certainly solicit the blessings from people who simply cannot wait to know the latest in any aspect of gossips today, regardless if they are true or not.

Did you know that we are currently celebrating Small Business Week? While we are in the middle of the week, you might want to check out the numerous resources available that might be of help to you. In fact, even if you are not able to attend an event during the week, there are a lot of blogs and sites that provide a live coverage of the various events.

I like one press release about the importance of maintaining communication, from PRWeb. Here are some rules of thumb for communication:

1.	Forward Phones: Know how to forward your phones to remote workers at home or on mobile lines to ensure your customers can continue communications with you;
2. Ensure Email Accessibility: Make sure employees have access to email via mobile and the web — after all — email is the primary mode of communication between you and your customers;
3. Always Backup Data: Backup up critical applications and data to a remote off site location to ensure piece of mind no matter what happens;
4. Create Alternate Meeting Ability: Have pre-established conferencing services via web or phone available to remote workers, partners, and customers so “business as usual” can continue.

These are some examples of what you can glean from the Week.

I would like to point out something that bMighty highlighted, though: every week should be small business week! After all, you run your business all year round. Why limit yourself to one week in a year? Read this article for more.

If you are a small business owner, you were probably overjoyed to hear about the government’s plan to help you out. This was announced some time ago, in the form of the stimulus package, which included shelling out money in loans. However, it seems that things are not going the way they were expected to. The news is that the money is not reaching the intended recipients.

The Orlando Sentinel recently ran a feature on this issue:

The parts of the federal government’s stimulus program aimed at small-business owners aren’t working as they should, say local owners and small-business experts who are trying to figure out what to do about the problem.

Claudia Menezes said there’s a barrier between the government aid allotted for small businesses and companies like hers, Pegasus Transportation, which runs tours for international travelers. And she isn’t alone in that opinion.

“We can’t get a loan out of anybody to help these people,” said Rich Jaeckle, chairman of the Orlando chapter of Score, a business-counseling group. Entrepreneurs approach the nonprofit organization for help, he said, but it can’t provide it. “They’re good ideas and they can’t go anywhere.”

What is happening? According to experts, there are certain regulations in place that are preventing the release of money. As a result, the involved authorities are getting together to see what can be done. In the meantime, small business owners have to be content with what they can get. Not very encouraging news right now, I know.

Identity theft has given way to a whole new range of criminal activities in the area of credit card fraud, house stealing and many more. The worsening economy isn’t helping for more and more people are getting desperate, turning to activities they would not otherwise engage in. There are however a lot of seasoned professionals who do this for a living and know all the alleys to pursue.
Over the internet, we have phishing and vishing scams that aim to steal your personal information as well as data regarding your finances. Bank statements and other financial records are also subject to these criminal activities which is why caution is always recommended when giving out or receiving such information.
Online credit card applications should be conducted with secure servers and checked for such before doing so. So are online purchases which can be subject to attack from hackers who get your information and charge the hell out of it, leaving you to explain why you bought the stuff you didn’t.
Fraud it seems is as easy as pie as long as there are people who fall victim to these criminals. True to this, many of those who are victimized even fail to recognize they are being scammed and readily share financial and other personal information with little convincing. Keep safe online so keep all non-vital information off the internet so you don’t fall victim to the many crimes that happen each and everyday.

If there is one thing that is clear because of the worldwide economic crunch, it is that people are starting to look at themselves to provide many services that they used to rely on others for. It is the DIY culture reborn. Take a look around you.

Before, people used to hire all sorts of service providers in order to get even the smallest things done. Need the grass or bushes trimmed? Call a gardener. Need the house cleaned? Call a house cleaner. Need to have a light fixed? Call an electrician. No time to walk the dogs? Call a dog walker. I could go on and on.

It used to be that people who ran this sort of business had a steady flow of income streaming in. Ordinary people had become so busy with their other activities that even the smallest of errands, they had to ask someone else to do for them (and pay for the service as well).

With money getting hard to come by, though, more and more people are learning to do things for themselves once again. The New York Times actually had a feature on this phenomenon, citing concrete examples and numbers:

Responsible for roughly 18 million jobs nationwide, according to 2006 Census Bureau data, these companies have long been seen as engines of America’s economic growth. Yet after years of explosive expansion, many beauty salons, dry cleaners, landscapers, dog walkers, nanny services and restaurants experienced slower sales growth or even decline in the final months of 2008.

Their services are suddenly, and painfully, being perceived as nonessential.

The question now for these businesses is whether demand will stabilize or, eventually, drop enough to force them to close. And the answer may depend on whether consumers’ new penchant for self-service is temporary or permanent.

Indeed, at this point, we do not know how long the DIY perception will remain or even if it will. In the meantime, if you run a service for a business, it may be wise to look at other options.

During the times of economic downturn, stocks were plummeting and many people had sold their shares with the fear of losing a lot. It was likewise reported back then that if you had any intentions of investing in stocks that was the right time to buy them since they were low. This all occurred during the time that sharp oil price increases were hitting the world and everything else was deemed as heading toward disaster.

This week, we have seen the slight decrease in oil prices which have given new hope to people who are quite bothered by the growing problem of oil prices. The oil price issue has acted as a domino effect, affecting businesses, stocks and foreign exchanges as well as real estate mortgage and sales. But it was also advised back then that if there is a time to invest, that would be the best time when everyone is selling them at lower prices. Many did not believe these advisors since they were too busy panicking. Now we see that their analysis is holding true.

Stocks are now climbing coinciding with the fall of the price of oil. So for the people who have held on to these stocks or have bought them, profits are sure to be rising as well at this point. For the others, buying now may not be too late but the opportunity has already been lost. But as long as these trends continue, expect everything today to pick up and hopefully brings the world back to its normal state.

Perhaps one thing that most business have steadily forgotten is the fact that they can really build more business if they try. Apparently some regions have restricted their beliefs to their immediate territories, totally forgetting the essence of marketing and its branches. Among them include that of global marketing, a branch to which is certainly a big boost if given the ample consideration on how to go about it.

Going global is not hard if you know your market. Fear of considering cultural and political factors outside the standard manner of strategic management is only normal but can be penetrated. Barriers will always be a challenge and rather than giving up, working and studying how to breach them is supposedly the duty of any business aspiring for globalization.

It is obvious that today, doing business has to be taken up a notch. Businesses cannot afford to take anything for granted and certainly, looking beyond business perspectives can help build corporate ties in neighboring regions if they are determined to branch out and spread business to the world.

The results do not have to be dramatic. Empires are build incrementally and time will surely be an essential part in making it happen. Going global may require additional investments but the trick here is how you can be able to do it methodically. It is achievable and many companies have done it successfully.

This is where the great business minds come into play. With the right business ingredients, any company can flourish in no time. All it takes is proper analysis and business approach and you can surely count on great harvest in the business sector in no time.

Some months back, we had already heard that we should brace for recession in key parts of the world. A lot of people stand to lose their jobs and rightfully so, we have seen thousands to perhaps a million people now jobless no thanks to this economic crisis that has befallen the world.

The big three auto manufacturers have made necessary cuts and so have banks. Three companies have joined the fray as well and this includes consumer electronics giant Sony which has cut over 8,000 jobs due to the acute downturn and economic climate. As we can see, no one is spared from this recession stage we are facing and if corporate giants like Sony joins the ranks of General Motors, Ford and Chrysler, it appears that no one is exempted from trying to hurdle that larger obstacles of trying to be financially capable of surviving this debacle.

Stocks are collateral damage as well, relying heavily on how the companies perform. These developments are not helping and much of the investors have embraced their money as they are afraid of losing them on investments which were usually the case for being able to rack in the riches.

Everyone is praying for a miracle. Some for an end to the recession issues. That is all we can do for now as the economic issues of the world reigns upon us for now.

The much publicized Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals are the last pieces of a sales strategy that most retail outlets and stores are trying to resort to so that they can save themselves from the evident faltering sales besetting most business sectors today. These are of course different from the usual holiday shopping spree but as we all know, this year’s Christmas sales are not expected to be as profitable compared to past years.

Finding ourselves in the worst crisis since the 90’s is one thing but the bad part is that we are only at the tip of the iceberg. This means that the worst is yet to come and it all starts in 2009. We have seen the necessary adjustments that most people have turned to and apparently, it looks like even the buyers are doing their share as well as far as cutting down on costs that include Christmas shopping.

So if consumers are trying to buck the credit crunch, you can expect the stores to suffer the brunt of these problems as well. It is a chain reaction and if one of the usual buyer-seller business model gets affected, at least one or both of these sides will have to gather their thoughts and try it out new strategies to cope up with the times.

Hopefully they can get some profit out of it. They need all the help in boosting sales as much as they can.

They call it China’s Stimulus Plan while others call it the New Deal. With no aid being set aside to attend to the Asian countries, no other than China itself has stepped up and laid out a new plan to help faltering global markets particularly in Asia. The act does seem commendable and has shown a bright ray of hope. However the fact remains, how good is it and up to where can it aid a faltering Asian market? If it does succeed, will the world follow?

Do remember that aside from these plans, China still has a score to settle as far as building its character to be reliable and of course safe. Today, the Chinese have been branded as jumping in too soon, neglecting the proper protocol that has put innocent lives both local and foreign, to risk. Of course this is with reference to their much celebrated melamine and lead paint scandals, both key areas that have made China a death threat to some nations especially in doing business.

From the ruckus it had caused, you would think China would be reeling back losses, but where is it getting the money for such a Stimulus plan that is reportedly valued at around four trillion yuan, or $586 billion? Is China that rich?

They may be two separate issues but the fact remains that China is not the best country to deal with right now. It can perhaps do good for its native land and entice investors. It can even outgrow recession over there. But while that is solving their problems, how about foreign trade? Will it cover up the scandals that they have been through?

The government said it would build infrastructure, fund housing, cut business taxes and encourage banks to lend money, all in a bid to offset slowing global growth by boosting the spending power of its people.
