After Barack Obama was proclaimed the 44th President of the United States, the economy looked like it was rebounding. At least for a day that is. Well it did, but similar to some developments in the past such as the approval of the financial bailout issue, stocks only improved for over a day. After that, everything went back to normal as most people were trying to think of a way to help the faltering economies of today.

Apparently it takes more than politics and intervention to help address these crazy business issues. While many of us are expecting the economy to pick up, investors and businesses are bound to wait and see what can possibly happen before making their moves. A new president is good news but Obama still has to prove he is worth the votes and trust.

Campaigning is one thing but putting promises into action is another. Many believe Barack Obama can help improve the economy of the US and once he does, the whole world will follow. But we have to wait for 73 days for that to happen, since that will officially be his first day at the White House.

So until that happens, the world is waiting. Is Obama worth all the hype? Can he change the fortunes? He can do only so much. But aside from the first Black President, it will take a lot of confidence as far as investors are concerned. Money has to come out of the pockets and that is one thing Obama has to think of together with trends governing us today.

It has been almost a week and nothing significant has been heard of with regards to the state of businesses and economies around the world. What gives? Apparently the whole focus is on the results of the elections which is currently underway to which Obama and McCain are slugging it out for the right to be proclaimed the President of the United States. At the moment, Obama holds a precarious lead but with the ballot counting underway, anything can happen.

The mindset of most people is an Obama victory. So what happens next once this happens? Well for one, regardless if it is Obama or McCain, the business sector is paying close attention to it since they want to know what plans the next U.S. president has in store. For sure, economic practices will change and hopefully for the best. At the moment, the business sector is losing confidence in making any investments, possibly holding it off until after the elections.

Asian markets are rising incrementally. We have seen this before. While they may seem to be rebounding bit by bit, it remains that nothing beats seeing a stable stock market once again. All eyes are on the U.S. presidential elections. The impact of the new president will certainly be prevalent to how the business sector will react to the new policies and trade practices after either Obama or McCain hold public office.

With that said, expect some fluctuations in the market. The only question is will it be good or bad.

By now, the issue that is going around is the rejection of Congress on the financial aid and support that President Bush had pushed for to save a faltering economy. For sure, many businesses are saddened by this since it means they have to go about their financial worries alone. But on the other hand, the conservative businessmen are probably heaving a big sigh of relief since first off, it preserves the nature of capitalism and the obvious business responsibility of each corporate entity to ensure their current sustainability in the world of competitive business.

Being in business, such downward trends as far as financial life support for the proper corporate existence and security of each business enterprise is supposed to be the personal responsibility of most corporations today. Stating that the current economic crisis and perhaps shift in consumer buying behavior is not really the jurisdiction of the government. It is the duty of competitive businesses to foresee this and make necessary adjustments and provisions to avoid falling into that trap. Apparently most companies have taken situations for granted.

This is not really to generalize. It is a fact that businesses have been accustomed to the traditional age of doing competitive transactions. We are now in a different millennium and included in that is the continuous research and development to satisfy demands and determine strategies in maintaining corporate competence. Getting help from other parties such as the government is not excusable and may in fact put a large dent if that request would have eventually pushed through.

With news that President Bush is hurrying the supposed “bailout” plan to save companies of a faltering U.S. economy, it is evidently showing why politicians do not know the proper way to do business. For one, when making a business decision, it is not as simple as ordering a missile to be launched. It takes due process and while congress is there to ratify it, they are likewise weighing out the options of the impact of this bill, which is sure to be drawing howls and protests from people today.

If you were in their shoes, where does politics have a hand in business? All politicians are after these days are saving the economy. If only it were that simple, a huge amount of money is involved in all of this. Imagine $700 billion for bailouts? Now that is a lot. It may help for sure but will it be professional and proper?

“We need a solution on this financial crisis more than we need a foreign policy debate,” said Graham, R-South Carolina. “The next seven days could determine the financial well-being of this country. We can postpone the debate for a week.”

And Rep. Roy Blunt, the Republicans’ House whip, said McCain’s decision “is a testament to the fact that [he] is a guy who would rather be part of the solution than run away from the fight.”

The bailout plan has met with a cool reception in two days of hearings on Capitol Hill, where both Democrats and Republicans have expressed skepticism about the proposal drafted by Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson.

McCain said he believes that Congress could forge a consensus on legislation “before the markets open on Monday.”

This area should perhaps be up for debate. Should business be involved in politics? Apparently we are all aware that political factors are counted among the external factors in doing business but should businessmen endorse and presidential candidate for that matter? Would this be good for business?

Apparently, businessmen are being solicited regarding their nod on which potential political figure to endorse but with that said, is it a sane move? For sure, this will be an advantage on the part of any politician, getting the vote of confidence of business tycoons but as far as the overall image of a business is concerned, it may not necessarily sit well. Business is far different from politics and rather than involve itself in political issues, it would be best to focus on strategic management to which they would leave political intervention out of the business model mix.

We are all aware that at the moment, a lot of business ventures are struggling. A lot of this is caused by various factors that include economic and political indicators. Involving itself in these problems may be a death wish as rather than buckle down and evaluate its current business plan, endorsing and putting premium on the future leader of a country may not really be the logical choice in maintaining your business on the various problems facing ventures today.

“We’ve spent so much time trying to incent those at the very top that we’ve forgotten about those in the very middle and that makes up the vast majority of the American population,” said Robert Pohlad, chairman and chief executive officer of PepsiAmericas, Inc. and president of Pohlad Cos., at a State Capitol news conference announcing the endorsements.

Whether it will be McCain or Obama is anyone’s guess and for sure, the placement of a new president into power will play a major role on how business will flourish in the land of America. Politics has never been given much attention but if you are a true businessman, political factors have a bearing on how you can adjust and strategize your business these days.

Driving power and the economy are two of the main points that is perhaps the reason for this. Cost of materials to produce and the consumer price index will vary and pouring all of these factors into the business mix will certainly provide you a better overview on what to expect as far as looking forward to a good business venture.

Many people fail to include political factors in the usual external factors for evaluation. Normally, business analysts would only consider the economic, social and legal aspects since the normal understanding is that regardless of political stability, there will always be room from them to adjust once it comes.

But this is like playing with fire. Business entities need to be advanced when it comes to planning for business. For one, exchange rates and governing prices from actual statistics have a real bearing. Further, with the growth of other tiger nations such as China and the UK, exports are not as fluent as before. The world has indeed caught up with U.S. and for sure, one false move will definitely be costly. That is why the leader of it all should be ready since if he is not up to it, a nation’s downfall may be at stake.

Managers are the leaders of departments and sections and a lot would rely on how they can effectively perform up to par and get the best out of his subordinates depending on the leadership style that is varied today. Many would instill the democratic manner of leadership while some would use the dictatorial way to stress that he means business. But whatever style is used, performance is the utmost important aspect to measure the effectiveness of a motivational leader that everyone would look up to.

A changing of the guards with regards to managers is normal, especially if the department fails to meet the expectations from its supposed contribution to overall organizational performance. Not all managers are good leaders and it is not hard to assess how. Anyone would only have to look at what his team has accomplished and weigh this out with his shortcomings. This alone speaks widely of how a manager is effective in his tenure of leadership, either a promising or failing leader that has been empowered by upper management.

For any business, it is good practice to ensure that people are communicating at equal levels. It is not about impressing but rather banking on flexibility to understand one another, especially for people who come from different working cultures and personalities. Establishing a good mode and channel for being able to address issues, transactions and consummating deals is something that business partners and acquaintances would want to strike out.

There should always be room for misunderstanding and minor conflicts. Emotional involvement would usually become an obstacle but the truth behind it all is the fact that personal issues should be set aside from professional ones. While separating them is easier said than done, people who are able to set the barrier between the two areas are indeed the professional businessmen that have learned to train themselves in properly placing them in the right areas.

Good working relationships produce favorable results. It would all depend on the level of experience that a person would have on the given field. While this cannot be experienced immediately, it is best to set aside the non-business areas of concern to establish a flourishing partnership both in the internal and external aspect of business.

The energy coming from the routine office work would always originate from the people who would perform them. Energy in the workplace is stimulated from the people who are in it. It is not purely something coming from the office equipment, computers or the papers lying on the desks. The attitude and stimulant atmosphere created by proactive employees in an office is sure to rub off on the other people at hand since productivity is the important aspect of generating results and profits that an organization is expected to achieve.

Maintaining the level of efficiency and productivity in a business environment depends on the consolidated mission of the employees in the organization. Such would be hard to maintain at productive to hypertensive levels since burnouts are common to be noted from people who put premium in their output. However, with the proactive employees around, it is never a possibility to take the level up a notch considering that such energy to be infused must be spread evenly to the office environment.

Being at the top of a corporation or organization would take a load off doing the dirty work that makes a business click. Most executives would not even be aware of the operational procedures since they are resigned to overlooking profits and developing strategies rather than understanding how the operations are vital towards producing and executing such plans.

Good managers are the ones who have worked their way from the rank and file position. They know about how a business suffers and gains. Managers immediately placed into power would normally not have an inkling of what the business is about unless they themselves try the individual job descriptions given to labor workers today.

The pathetic thing about it is that glaring figures make them smile but red-figures or losses make the blow their top off. Their duties have been concentrated on figures where they forget that attending towards the actual needs of laborers is also something that has to be taken into consideration.
