When it comes to people losing their jobs, it’s fair to say that there are usually the same telltale signs leading up to it. Usually, people who do their best and are dependable employees have pretty good chances at being able to depend on keeping their job for a long time to come.
People who lose their jobs tend to have had the same complaints said about them. Here are the most common reasons and what you can do to avoid it.
Poor Attendance
Your employer wants to know that they can depend on you to do the job that you were hired for. How can you be expected to do your job if you aren’t even physically there?
Employees who have frequent excuses as to why they can’t show up or why they are there late start to be seen as undependable to their employers. When you show your boss that you are a person who takes action and who doesn’t put their social life before their performance then you will notice that you are valued and appreciated as an employee.
Often employees who drink too much the night before, or find any excuse to call in sick will quickly be dismissed as a member of the team who is no longer needed. Showing up on time and regularly is crucial when it comes to showing your boss that you are the right person for the job.
Lack of Quality Performance
At the end of the day giving your best work is one of the biggest factors in determining whether you are worthy of your position or not. Your employer isn’t paying you to do mediocre work but rather the best that you can do for your skill level.
Often employees whose performance reviews are less than ideal several times or more will be let go. If you fear for the security of your job regularly, consider taking a step back and giving yourself an honest assessment of how hard you are actually working. If you determine that you are doing your best then you should be able to decide whether you think you will be able to keep your job in the long run or not.
Inability to Work Well With Others
One of the most common complaints of employers about the employees that they have fired was that they were not able to function well in a team environment.
Since every business is built on teamwork and being able to incorporate multiple opinions and ideas, being able to work well with others is essential.
Even if you don’t necessarily agree with your peer’s opinions and work styles all of the time, you should maintain the professionalism and positive attitude to be able to work around it and offer positive solutions.
