Weird as it may be, many people today are finding it hard to earn a living and survive the financial demon to level income and spending. But while others are saving on fuel and other shopping goods, it is quite strange to hear that the sales of flat-screen televisions are doing good progress.
Apparently, many people have invested in flat-screen television to have some sort of consolation when they get home or have nothing to do. Rather than go out to posh places, watch a movie or any form of cost-related activity, spending a quiet place at home watching your favorite programs or DVD movies has been a common practice that most people are turning to these days.
And with all of this, you have to know that a lot of the flat-screen company manufacturers are sporting a wide grin these days. Considering that we should be in a time where everyone is tightening their belts, there are still people who buy these high-priced home theatre setups.
Hopefully though they do not forget their electric bill. These flat-screen television sets are bound to eat up more energy. Let us pray they did not overlook that teeny possibility.
I mean, really, the whole “Don’t spend your stimulus check on a flat-screen TV” was practically a cliché! Everybody who covered the fiscal stimulus story indulged in it! But that doesn’t mean we expected it to happen.
Now someone needs to do a nice cost-benefit analysis to measure how much the electricity consumed by these new TVs compares with the gas saved by not leaving the house while mesmerized by the best television resolution in human history.
