The ban has been lifted but the damage has been done. Such is the dilemma that Croley Foods Manufacturing has to deal with as the melamine issue has certainly already been done no thanks to the Hong Kong Food authorities.
The other, it was reported that traces of melamine were found in the exported good from the Philippines and to verify, the Bureau of Food and Drugs administration had initially put a temporary hold on the selling of this widely popular brand as far as the blueberry line is concerned. But knowing business, one product line affects the entire brand and business is bound to dip.
While they have already lifted the ban today, it seems apparent that sales for the long-time cracker manufacturer is going to suffer. Already established as a known distributor in the food and snacks sector, Croley Foods now finds itself trying to figure a way to win back consumer confidence and preference for its branded cracker line. To think that they have their share as well as coping up with the fiscal crisis we have today, this debacle is going to hurt them a lot. Just imagine the days that they had to sacrifice sales due to the melamine issue!
Another bad thing about it all is that it all stemmed from exporting a product. Every business wants to go global. But this should be a lesson that no matter how hard you want to go global, make sure that your product is indeed fit and able to pass the quality standards that other countries are looking for. Overlooking it may bring you to worst issues rather than help you business flourish.
